You’d think this to be the beginning of a joke your pal might tell you over happy hour, “So Darth Vader walks into the mayor’s office…” But In Odessa, Ukraine this week Darth Vader did walk into the mayor’s office to claim a seaside land plot for himself and his, er, spaceship, Reuters reported today.
In a YouTube video posted on Nov. 14, an Odessa man dressed as the Star Wars villain is seen entering the city office building to inquire about a piece of land, introducing himself as “Darth Vader, the right hand of Emperor Palpatine.”
“Knowing that many deputies and the mayor have switched to the dark side… I have come for a land plot… for my space cruiser,” the man dressed as Vader says in the video.
The visit was prompted by the city’s recent decision to grant seaside plots of land to people for free, raising concerns of corruption among the general public.
Apparently the man’s application was accepted by a city administrator, but only after he removed his helmet to reveal himself.
Is that all it takes? I’m heading to Cannon Beach this minute sporting a Darth Vader helmet w/cape to submit my application for an ocean-front view. May the force be w/you! Great video. Looks like he made some headlines, and no trouble from the police.
